Description

The Student Technical Congress (STC) is the flagship student event of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) German Section — an event supported by the Section and organized by students, for students.
The 2026 edition marks the 20th anniversary of STC, and alongside its signature features, will also host the European qualifiers of the renowned SPE PetroBowl competition.
STC offers a unique platform for students from a wide range of engineering and geoscience backgrounds to present their research through academic presentations and poster exhibitions, where participants gain recognition for their work and stand a chance to win awards.
A major highlight each year is the award-winning TUC Drillbotics Team showcase, featuring a lab-scale directional drilling rig developed by students from mechanical, electrical, software, and petroleum engineering disciplines.
Beyond the technical sessions, STC provides valuable networking opportunities. The career fair connects students directly with leading companies in the energy sectors, while social events offer a relaxed setting for informal conversations and meaningful connections.
